UFO |The government took the threat of UFOs so seriously in the 1950s that UK intelligence chiefs met to discuss the issue, newly-released files show. Britain’s World War 2 Prime Minister had a fascination with life on other planets and mused there could be aliens in our solar system. SIR Winston Churchill ordered a top-secret investigation into flying saucers – and may have covered-up evidence of aliens.

Declassified documents reveal Britain’s great wartime prime minister asked a special team of Whitehall mandarins – called the Flying Saucer Working Party – to discover “the truth” behind a worrying number of UFO sightings. The official report explained away the numerous observations – which included strange objects over US capital Washington DC picked up by several military radars. But, in a deathbed confession, Churchill’s personal bodyguard accused his boss of covering up a close encounter over Britain by the RAF itself.

UFO disclosure has been kept to a minimum, as many governments believe that the public isn’t ready to be exposed to extraterrestrial (ET) life and UFO phenomena yet. Government documents often aren’t made public for decades (if at all), so a lot of this information gets buried. In July 1952, US Air Force fighter jets had to be scrambled on two consecutive weekends after radar detected several unidentified objects flying in a restricted zone over the White House – causing public panic. In response, On July 28, 1952, Churchill sent his Secretary of State for Air Lord Cherwell a memo, requesting an urgent investigation.

In the note – which became known as the “Churchill Memorandum” – he wrote:

“What does all this stuff about flying saucers amount to?
“What can it mean? What is the truth?
“Let me have a report at your convenience.”

Interestingly, Aug. 5, 2010, BBC News report quoted Nick Pope, a former UFO investigator for Britain’s Ministry of Defence, as saying,

An employee at the British Government’s Ministry of Defence (MoD) from 1985 to 2006 and is best known for a role he undertook for the British Government from 1991 to 1994 which involved investigating reports of UFO sightings to determine their defence significance.

“What happened is that a scientist whose grandfather was one of his (Churchill’s) bodyguards said look, Churchill and Eisenhower got together to cover up this phenomenal UFO sighting that was witnessed by an RAF crew on their way back from a bombing raid. The reason apparently was because Churchill believed it would cause mass panic and it would shatter people’s religious views.”

The chairman of Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign, John Podesta, has also been quoted many times discussing the lack of UFO disclosure, as have many other politicians.

Calvine UFO Photo Cover-Up?

The Calvine UFO photo is the most spectacular UFO photo ever sent to the Ministry of Defence. It’s also missing. The saga began on 4 August 1990 when two members of the public out walking in the vicinity of Calvine, near Pitlochry, in Scotland, sighted a massive, diamond-shaped, metallic UFO. The UFO was virtually stationary and hovered silently for what the witnesses believed was several minutes, before accelerating away vertically at massive speed. During the sighting, a military aircraft, believed to be a Harrier, was seen, but it wasn’t clear if it was escorting the craft, attempting to intercept it, or whether the pilot was ever aware of it at all.

A number of colour photographs were taken and passed to the Scottish Daily Record, who in contacted the MoD, probably because they were seeking comment on the story. It’s not clear what happened next because I didn’t join MoD’s UFO project until 1991 and this investigation was handled by my predecessor. It seems that, somehow, MoD managed to persuade the reporter to part with not just the photos, but the negatives.
